The free trial
One free evaluation per person, on the same live-priced markets - a real challenge you cannot get funded from.
The free trial is a real evaluation you can start without paying: a $5K Arena | 1-Step account on the same live-priced markets, with the same profit target and the same risk floors a purchased one has. There is no card and no payment.
One thing about it is different, and it is the important one: a trial can never become a funded account. It is there to let you trade the real product before you decide to buy, not to earn a payout.

What you get
The trial runs the same rule set as a purchased account of the same size and type, so what you learn on it transfers exactly.
| Term | Value |
|---|---|
| Account size | $5K simulated capital |
| Evaluation type | Arena | 1-Step - one phase |
| Profit target | +10%, so a balance of $5,500 |
| Daily loss floor | 3%, trailing |
| Max drawdown floor | 6%, fixed at the start |
| Time limit | None |
| Cost | Free - no card, no payment |
Everything in Trading rules applies to it unchanged: the same equity-based floors, the same daily reset at 00:00 UTC, the same leverage, the same position sizing and per-asset position caps, the same fees.
Who can start one
Three conditions, and they are the only ones:
| Condition | Why |
|---|---|
| A verified email | The trial replaces the price as the thing that keeps one person to one trial, so it needs an identity signal. If your email is not verified yet, the tab offers to resend the link. |
| One per person | You can start a trial once. After that the tab shows you the paid challenges instead. |
| One per device | A trial is also one per device, so a second account on the same machine cannot start another. If that is you, the tab says so and points you at the paid challenges. |
The per-device condition is why a trial can be refused even on a brand-new account: the check is per device as well as per person, so a second account started on a machine that has already had its trial is offered the paid challenges instead. The offer says which condition is in the way, and closing it puts you back where you opened it from.
Separately from those conditions, the trial runs on the Arena | 1-Step line. If that line, or its $5K size, is ever taken off sale, the offer reads The free trial is paused for everyone until it returns, and says that the one line the trial runs on is off sale right now. There is nothing to choose in that state: the trial has only that one line, so the offer says so and closes rather than sending you to pick a different one.
How to start one
- Open the Challenges page and press Start a free trial, in the line under the challenge cards.
- Check the offer - it opens over the page and shows the size, target, and floors above.
- Press Start your free trial. To leave it instead, close the offer: the challenge cards are still behind it.
Before you hold any account there is a second way in: your Dashboard shows Start free trial under Browse challenges, and it opens the same offer over the same page. Closing it puts you back on the Dashboard. One difference, and it is deliberate: when the offer explains why you cannot have a trial, the version opened from the Dashboard does not repeat a Browse challenges button, because that button is already the one you pressed past to get there.
Your trial account is created and selected as your active account, and you land on the dashboard with it open. A window opens once with your trial's account size, profit target and max drawdown, and Start trading. From there you can trade it in the terminal straight away.
On a phone the offer rises from the bottom of the screen and can be swiped down to close.
What a trial cannot do
A trial can never be funded
This is the one rule that separates a trial from a purchased challenge, and it holds absolutely: a trial account cannot reach a funded state by any route - not by passing, not by an operator, not by a future automatic funder. Because it can never be funded, it can never generate a payout. If you want a funded account, buy a challenge.
A trial also earns no certificates. Certificates record paid entries, passes, funded accounts, and completed payouts, and none of them is issued for a trial, not even when it passes.
What happens when you pass a trial
Hitting the profit target passes the trial exactly as it would pass a purchased account, including the automatic close when your equity after fees reaches the target. The pass is real and it is recorded on the account. What follows is different: instead of moving to a funded account, the account reads as a completed trial, and the app points you at the paid challenges. Passing a trial is proof you can clear the target; buying a challenge is what turns that into a funded account and payouts. A trial's pass earns no points either: points are earned on accounts you bought.
Where a trial shows up
| Surface | How it appears |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | In the account switcher alongside your other accounts. |
| Terminal | With a Free trial badge on the account chip, so you always know which account you are trading. |
| Leaderboard | In its own Free trial pool, kept separate from the Evaluation and Funded boards. It is a ranking only - a trial earns no rewards from it. |
| Certificates | Not at all - see above. |
It does not use your paid account slot
During beta you can hold 1 paid challenge account at a time. Your trial sits alongside that limit rather than inside it, so having a live trial never stops you buying a challenge, and buying a challenge never costs you your trial.
